My family moved to Fishbourne in 1974 and has lived here ever since. I graduated from university with a Law degree but chose not to practise. Instead I got a postgraduate degree in Modern Drama, then started a small publishing business 30 years ago. Books, authors, and publishing are my career, and it has taken me around the world. I enjoy designing books as well as other print publications.
I have served on Fishbourne Parish Council since March 2020. In that time, I have taken over from my predecessors as editor of the Fishbourne Village Voice, a quarterly magazine that goes free of charge to 1,200 households in the Parish, distributed door to door by Parish Councillors. It contains local news contributions from members of the Council and others to keep people informed about activities in the village community. It has raised awareness of common issues, celebrations and current affairs in a lively and topical manner.
My family has always taken an interest in local and national issues, especially planning and the environment. When my dad developed dementia I became his full-time caregiver. I kept him in the family home and looked after him until he passed away. Adult social care has been a major concern for me. Spare time activities include cultural activities such as theatre, music and the arts. Recreational and daily commute cycling have always been part of my life, so road safety is another major concern for me.
