Harsha Desai

I grew up in Westbourne before moving to Leeds to study Landscape Architecture. I worked in both the public and private sectors before moving to Philadelphia, USA. During my time in the USA, I volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, building housing in areas of those most disadvantaged.

On returning to the UK in 2009, I settled in Petworth, where soon after I got married and we welcomed our daughter a few years later.

I soon got involved with the local Business Association and set up my own business as a Social Media Trainer and Marketer. I joined the Petworth Town Council in 2019 and was a key member of the help desk during the pandemic, creating buddy systems ensuring everyone received their medication and other essential items. I ran the 2021 Christmas Event which saw over 5000 people visit Petworth, a great atmosphere for businesses, visitors, and residents. I also organised the Platinum Jubilee events in 2022, a three-day event bringing the community together to celebrate this once in a lifetime opportunity.
