Reason for urgency:
To approve a contract for the execution of works, namely the delivery and placement of 11,000 tonnes of coarse shingle in the Danefield Road area of Selsey beach in order to effect a substantial improvement to the protection offered to the community of Selsey pursuant to Phase 2 of the Selsey and West Wittering Beach Management Plan.

This matter is urgent and unable reasonably to be deferred because the works are due to start on 3 January 2017 and must be completed by 31 March 2017.

Explanation of anticipated restriction:
It is in the public interest that this report be taken in private because the report contains sensitive commercial information namely the chosen contractor and tender price which would or might prejudice the Council’s position in any subsequent tender process if it were to be made publicly available. This information will be made available once the contract is awarded.
