I moved to Chichester in 1976 when I worked as a Customer Engineer for IBM in the local area. Before that I lived in North London moving to North Hampshire in 1960. After leaving school in 1962 I served an Engineering Apprenticeship for BEA. Then joined IBM in 1974. Living in Chichester for all this time meant my two children had a superb schooling at local schools: Jessie Younghusband and Chichester High School for Boys, both went to university. Also it meant that I and my wife, who enjoyed life as a supply teacher to most of the schools in the area could join local clubs and institutions. My interest in sport caused me to join local clubs and sports clubs. I was elected Chairman of the Chichester Rugby Football Club in 1986 a post I held for 3 years. I was a Coach for rugby over 10 years and I have watched all the members I coached grow to Adults with much interest. I retired at 50 and started to manage my own company. Running my own company gave me an interest in business and the Local Community. Now I have retired completely I have the time to think of the things that need doing in the community. As a councillor I can take an active part in helping change for the good and betterment of voters of Chichester and in particular the people of Chichester North Ward.
